IE7 Priority Update Not As Beneficial As You Might Think

Earlier this week CNET reported that Microsoft will be pushing Internet Explorer 7 as a high priority update to Windows XP users once the new browser is released. This was noted by Dave Shea over at mezzoblue, his main point being that if you are not testing websites in IE7 yet, you should. I certainly took note of this and have acquired my copy of IE7 beta 3.

However, that isn’t the point of this post. I was rather worried by the rejoicing amongst the comments of Dave’s post that support for IE5.X and even IE6 could be dropped soon after IE7 is released. Accessible Search - It’s a start

Recently we have seen Google Accessible Search pop up in Google Labs and already there are a bunch of complaints about the search engine giant’s latest idea.

Firstly, there have been moans about how the search only caters for those who are blind or visually impaired. This isn’t a surprise when one of the research scientists on the Accessible Search team is blind. However, many of the methods that the WCAG 1.0
recommend that target problems that the visually impaired may have remain relevant to those with other disabilities. Thus a search that prioritises those features will benefit other disabled users anyway. Continue reading “Accessible Search - It’s a start” »

My First Post

This is my first time blogging, ever. This is my first personal site. This is my first time working with WordPress. Essentially this post signifies a lot of firsts for me.
