How Well Do You Know Your HTML?
Posted on Saturday, December 1st, 2007
A bit of fun for a Saturday, how many HTML 4 elements can you name in 5 minutes?
I made some silly mistakes, forgot some essential elements and only guessed a couple out of sheer luck, when the pressure is on everything flies out of your head!
I got 56 out of 91, let me know how you do.

Warning: if you really enjoy the test and want to use the badge they make available for your site/blog, watch out for the advertising link. I was quite disappointed to see it, but enjoyed the challenge enough to mention it anyway.

Phil Says:Hi Tim, thanks for commenting!
It is tough isn’t it! Much harder to think of elements when you need them than when you’re under pressure. You got quite a few that I missed though, forgetting STYLE was a big mistake on my part!

Vera Says:I did that test a couple of months ago… and got barely over 50%…
In the end it doesn’t really matter. I do this for a living (among other things) and am referring to w3schools most of the time.
What do you expect? I haven’t been able to memorize my cell phone number, despite the fact that I’ve had the same one for around 4 years.

Jem Says:Heh, I remember when I took this the first time I wasted ages trying to figure out how to work it because I kept typing in the tags with the less than/greater than symbols. D’oh.

Phil Says:Vera: It is almost frustrating doing the test and coming out with less than you think you should, but when you know that your day job means you know HTML, then this is just a silly test!
Then again, I’d get worried if you can’t remember your phone number ;) (although, admittedly I have never changed mine because I never want to have to remember another!)
Jem: Nice one! I’m glad I didn’t fall for that, otherwise my figure would have never been posted and I’d not have anything to post right now! I’m having a busy work period, so writing is out of the window at the moment.

Jem Says:Hey, don’t pick on those of us who can’t remember our phone number! I’ve had the same phone for about 4 years and I can’t remember my number either :p
