Upgrade To WordPress 2.5
Posted on Monday, April 21st, 2008
Apologies for the lack of updates recently, all this sitting about with my feet up has sort of put me off the computer for a while. I did upgrade my version of WordPress this evening to 2.5 (that’s right, check the number at the bottom of the page!), just so I could use the new light and airy admin interface designed by certain people I highly respect at Happy Cog Studios. Thankfully nothing went wrong, that I can see, but if you do happen to spot anything, do let me know.
Have you upgraded yet? If so, do you like the new interior? My favourite part is automatically upgrading plugins, but the design and usability is beautiful too.
Something For The Weekend — WordPress Plugins
Posted on Saturday, September 29th, 2007
It’s always interesting to see what plugins other WordPress bloggers use. Today Darren Rowse shared a few of his favourites. As it’s the weekend I thought I’d show you my top plugins too.

Multiple WordPress Loops: Back To Normality
Posted on Wednesday, July 4th, 2007
Having hacked up the front page of my WordPress theme with three loops recently, I actually broke a couple of parts of the page. The previous posts link that you can see at the bottom of the front page now, stopped working because of the three different loops I was using.
At the time I replaced them with a link to the Archives, but I later received a message from Hans to tell me that the link was both not expected to visit the archives and wasn’t as useful as a link to the previous 5 posts. At the time I said I would do something about it, displaying bad usability on this site is against what I am trying to achieve, but didn’t get the chance, until now.

Friday’s News: Gack Ink Round 2 And Wordpress Troubles
Posted on Saturday, March 3rd, 2007
Gack Ink, the “bring your own blog” network, is having it’s second round of submissions. You have until 8am EST (whatever that is compared to your time, I certainly don’t know) Monday morning (or afternoon/Sunday evening depending on your time zone). So head on over, check out how to apply and have a go!
Speaking of which, I have finally added the Gack Ink button to my sidebar. I’m not sure how well it fits with the rest of the site though. I wonder if I’ll be able to design my own button/link? The main point is, click through and check out the other members of the network, I have found a ton of new stuff to read and I am more than looking forward to discovering the new round admissions. Will you be among them?
Wordpress 2.1.1 is Dangerous
It was quite a surprise to see that the Wordpress development blog were declaring that their latest release was dangerous. Turns out someone was messing with the original code of our beloved blogging software. Thank goodness for the swift work and dedication of the Wordpress team in providing a newer version. If you installed version 2.1.1 (unlike me, I’m just too lazy) then download 2.1.2 now!
Adventures With The Wordpress Loop: Sticky Articles
Posted on Sunday, February 18th, 2007
Having decided to mix up my front page with a latest article section, I then had to work out how to manipulate the Wordpress Loop in order to display what I wanted. It took quite a lot of thinking, one wrong (oh so wrong) attempt and then I cracked it. Please note, this involves playing about with the index.php file in your theme, if you don’t want to spoil anything, please back it up! Now, here’s how to do it:
