Warning: Off Topic Post (But Read It Anyway)
Posted on Wednesday, September 20th, 2006
Yeah, this is off topic, but I have to tell everyone I can about the amazing news I received yesterday. It won’t take me long, but I have to get it off my chest. Here goes…
My band, Hammer VS The Snake were played on Steve Lamacq’s show on Radio 1 on Monday night!
This is a huge thing for us because we are relatively unknown! We are a student band from Oxford who play local gigs and won the Oxford Student Union battle of the bands in 2005. Since then we recorded two EPs and have received some good reviews from local magazines, also getting one of our songs played on BBC Oxford’s The Download.
But now this, national radio play, completely out of the blue! Thanks so much to Steve Lamacq for playing new, unknown bands and for liking our stuff! If you want to hear us, check out our downloads page or listen to the newest EP, Goods, at our myspace page. And if you do, please let me know what you think!

Yvonne Says:Congrats Phil! I’ll check out your music when I get the chance. Love the band name too

Phil Says:Thanks Yvonne! I’m not sure it’ll be to your taste (it’s certainly not the score from a Hollywood film!), but give it a go! You might like it!
I like the name too, thanks! We used to be called Go! Team, but then The Go! Team got famous before us(!) so we had to change.

Hans Says:That’s too great Phil. Keep on rocking dude. Congrats man. Hey Phil, I heard about something on that subject. It’s like a stadium, everybody can come and sing and the public choose the one they liked from all. I think Shawn Warde have gone through this with his No Promises tube.
Would love one day seeing you and your band on tv, why not? keep rocking man
I’m on to the download page, rock yeah that’s something that gets in 2nd of my list of listening to after the DJ’s

Phil Says:Thanks Hans, it is all very exciting!
I think you are talking about the X Factor there. It really is a pop/talent show and isn’t our style I’m afraid. Certainly since it’s all about singing and that is something I definitely can’t do! I play bass.
Glad you enjoyed the music! Feel free to spread it about and let other people know.

Joniepoo Says:HI - I just found out i am pregnant, we are very excited! Last night waiting for my husband to come home so I could take the test nearly killed me. but when that little blue + came up there was much jumping up and down and squealing.
So now finally I am pregnant and suddenly realise that I don’t know anything, so that’s a bit scary!
I need to start researching diapers and strollers and stuff! This is great!
I just had to tell someone! weeeeeeeeeeeee!
