Redesign! What Do You Think?
Posted on Friday, February 9th, 2007
I’ve done it! I’m up far too late, I’ve taken long enough, but I’ve done it.
Finally this new design I have been going on about for seemingly months and months has arrived along with Wordpress 2.1 and (unless you are reading this through your favourite feed reader, in which case I suggest you visit now) you are looking at it.
I’ll explain what I have done in another post, but for now I just want to say I’m proud of it. If you do find any bugs, strange rendering, bits sticking out or anything you think is wrong with it, please let me know, unless the contact form is broken, in which case I’ll never know.
Most importantly though, what do you think? Be honest, leave me a comment or a mail to tell me what your impressions are, first or otherwise.

Nyssa Says:Oh yeah! I love it. When I came it was a nice change to see something different. I had been wondering if you were still working on this or not, or if it would be up soon.
Anyway, I quite like it. Very colourful! :) I’ll let you know if I happen to find any bugs.
Nice job, Phil.

Phil Says:Hi Nyssa!
Glad you like it, I know it took ages to come, but it was all down to not having the internet! A pretty good excuse if you ask me…
I love your update to your new theme too! Especially the removal of the mystery navigation at the top, much more sensible to tell people what the link they are clicking on goes to!

Nyssa Says:More than a good excuse ;) Anyhow, like I said, it looks great :)

Hans Says:your design is really awesome -really it’s just something I haven’t seen yet and that’s what makes it so special….
special too for its great integration with services like mybloglog….
man you really did a great job on the graphics…too good the way you faded the rss image, etc
I will still have to visit but something I didn’t like is the navigation in the frontpage. I mean down below you provided a link to your archives page, I think a previous/next link would be better since it’s faster to get to the previous posts rapidly.
I myself just came here and wanted to catch with any missing articles I haven’t read. I got to your home page, read through them but wanted the rest - previous ones….getting to your archives wouldn’t help me since I don’t know exactly what months I’ve missed…
I’ll still have to make a thorough tour to get you my feedbacks…
keep up the great work man!

Hans Says:hi again Phil….hey one more thing I really find amazing is how you got your theme xhtml and css valid…… hope you could share this secret with us. making our blogs more accessibility and good looking to those validation checks.

Phil Says:Hi Hans, thanks for your comments!
I had great fun playing with images to make certain parts of the site stand out. I particularly thought that the RSS needed something special in order to stand out and I’m glad you noticed.
Interesting point about the more posts link. I guess I broke the expected result when clicking that. I will look into changing that back, though the whole articles section on the home page may cause difficulties! Thanks.
Oh, and the XHTML and CSS is just part of the attention to detail I like to include in my sites… the more practice the better I get. Maybe I’ll put together a few tips sometime!
